Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a chronic degenerative disease that develops gradually on the basis of cartilage degeneration, and can cause symptoms such as knee pain, stiffness and activity limitation. According to epidemiological surveys, the prevalence of KOA among people over 65 years of age in Asia is as high as 11% to 27%. With the aggravation of the aging population in China, the incidence of diseases such as knee osteoarthritis is increasing year by year, which seriously affects the quality of life of patients. Currently, the treatments for KOA are constantly being developed and improved, but all of them are easy to recur and difficult to cure, and how to delay the recurrence of the disease or even complete recovery after treatment is still one of the problems in the treatment of KOA in the world today. Non-surgical treatment is the first choice for early and middle stage KOA, and patients with KOA who have been ineffective in conservative treatment often need to undergo Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) or Unicompartmental Knee Arthroplasty (UKA), but the cost of surgical treatment is very high and there are problems such as infection, joint loosening, and joint pain. However, surgical treatment is expensive and carries many risks such as infection, joint loosening, joint dislocation and joint pain. According to Chinese medicine, the occurrence of knee osteoarthritis is caused by internal and external factors, the internal factor is deficiency of the liver and kidney, and the external factor is the attack of wind, cold and dampness, both of which lead to the blockage of meridians and channels, and stagnation of qi and blood, which ultimately lead to joint pain and unfavorable flexion and extension. Wintongbojin cupping as a blend of tendon, gua sha, tuina, moxibustion in one of the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine therapeutic apparatus, is a therapeutic and comfortable coexisting with new therapies, which combines the kneading, crushing, pushing, pressing, pointing, ironing, ironing and other techniques, heat attacking the evil to dispel the cold, through the channels to activate the balance of qi, can effectively relieve the patient's pain, and enhance the immunity of the body. In recent years, Wentongbojin cupping Therapy has been gradually recognized by patients because of its simple operation, safety, effectiveness and comfort. Knee osteoarthritis belongs to the category of “paralysis” in traditional Chinese medicine, and wind-cold-damp paralysis is one of the indications of Wentongbojin cupping Therapy, but there are fewer domestic and oversea researches on the effect of Wentongbojin cupping Therapy in knee osteoarthritis, therefore, this study adopts the Wentongbojin cupping Therapy to intervene in patients with early and middle stage of knee osteoarthritis, and evaluates the clinical efficacy and safety of Wentongbojin cupping Therapy, in order to provide the best treatment for the patients. Therefore, in this study, we used the Wentongbojin cupping Therapy to intervene in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee in the early and middle stages, and comprehensively evaluated its clinical efficacy and safety, so as to provide a new method and a new way of thinking for the clinical care of knee osteoarthritis.
