1. To determine the alterations of the gut-brain-microbiota axis between IBS-C patients and healthy subjects 2. To investigate the effect of electroacupuncture on the alterations of the gut-brain-microbiota axis in IBS-C patients

Description for medicine or protocol of treatment in detail：

We aimed to determine the alterations of the gut-brain-microbiota axis between IBS-C patients and healthy subjects and to investigate the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) on the alterations of the gut-brain-microbiota axis in IBS-C patients. Phase 1 study, the participants were enrolled in the study, including healthy participants, as the control group and IBS-C patients. Clinical data, blood, and fecal samples were collected from all participants. Then, in the clinical study of IBS-C patients, we collected the same data at 2-time points: after the end of EA and 1-month follow-up (without any treatment).

纳入标准：

Inclusion criteria

Participants' age ranged from 18 to 65 years (healthy group) and in IBS-C group (use ROME IV criteria)

Exclusion criteria：

History of treatment for other organic or psychiatric disorders, current medication, antibiotic or herbal use within a month prior to the enrollment, history of GI surgery, and history of acupuncture (with any condition) in the past of 6 months ago

数据采集和管理（说明：数据采集和管理由两部分组成，一为病例记录表(Case Record Form, CRF)，二为电子采集和管理系统(Electronic Data Capture, EDC)，如ResMan即为一种基于互联网的EDC：

Data collection and Management (A standard data collection and management system include a CRF and an electronic data capture：

All participants were recruited and provided consent. Clinical data, including irritable bowel syndrome symptom severity scale scores (IBS-SSS), irritable bowel syndrome quality of life (IBS-QoL), Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADs), were obtained. Biological parameters, including plasma morning cortisol, plasma MDA, plasma serotonin level, fecal samples for determining gut microbiota characteristics, and heart rate variability (HRV), indicating the physiological status of the autonomic nervous system, were also collected. All data was kept in the electronic database on the Head of this project's personal computer.
